Hello all,

Running Asterisk v1.4.23.1 with Aastra 9133i, an 480ict and a Linksys
spa3102.

On incoming calls, the caller is presented with an ivr menu to choose
who he wants to talk to. We ring all phones, setting the Bellcore so that the
Linksys rings the analog phone(s) with 5 distinctive rings, according to the
selected callee. (this number may increase in time).

The Linksys SPA3102 doesn't provide the call quality we want, so we are
moving to the Aastra's and want to provide the same (or extended) distinctive
ringing setup.

Distinctive rings desired:
1-long ring for anyone near the phone
for each individual, (in future perhaps more individuals) one of:
      2-short rings,
      2-long rings,
      1-long-1-short rings,
        1-short-1long ring,
        3-short rings, 1-short-1long-1short, etc.

        Problem:
The Aastra's with newest firmware (v1.4.3.23) only have
Bellcore-dr[1-5]. The rings are different on the Linksys from the Aastras for
the same Bellcore-dr#. Bellcore-dr5 on the Aastras only rings once (a short
ring) and stops... not useable for our needs. Are the Bellcore-dr#'s not
supposed to be standard across manufacturer's?

Can the Bellcore-dr#/ring-cadence functionality be extended/customized?
with the 9133i and/or 480ict? If so, how? (Pointers to documentation show ing
how, please).

If not, any suggestions on how to provide this functionality with greater
call quality? We have a Mediatrix 2102 and a Grandstream ht496 at our disposal,
but aren't convinced that they would do any better than the Linksys as an
ATA.Comments?

Alternatively, or perhaps in addition to the distinctive rings, would it
be possible to have the Aastra auto-answer and play an audio file through the
speakerphone from asterisk to indicate the desired callee, while keeping the
Aastra microphone muted?

Currently, we have the "HomePriv" macro providing the caller's
self-identification and a message to the callee, allowing him to decide how to
handle the incoming call when he picks up the handset.

 Can additional customrings (distinctive cadence)be
added somehow to the Aastra's?

If this is documented somewhere, please point me to it.

      Thanks in advance,

      --terry
