I know a lot has been written in other message boards and other groups
about how to convert a phone from Cisco's proprietary software to SIP.
I have various firmware levels in SIP that I have tried to upgrade the
firmware on these 5 - 7940 units I have. I have 3 that work flawlessly.

Here is what I have

* 3 - 7940's that always give me "Universal Invalid Application
Protocol" errors each time they try to boot.

*         1 - 7940 that hangs on "Configuring VLAN"

* 1 - 7940 that completes the boot cycle then starts rebooting
again, it just cycles through the reboot process.

Has anyone come up with a "simple" way of upgrading these units work
with SIP.  I have firmware versions: 5.1, 6.3, 7.5, 8.8 and 8.10.

I always find it easier to follow a step by step guide when trying to
complete this kind of thing, has anyone put together such a beast? If
so are they willing to share? I would really appreciate it if someone
could help me with the firmware conversion problem.

Thanks.
