I am bidding against some propriety Unified Communications provider who are looking to bring in Plantronic headsets with some softphone. I am not sure if they offer a Microsoft solution or some other solution but typing Unified Communication + Headset right away brings up Plantronic headsets. I need some info on their business models just to make a stronger case and to bring more features to the table. 1- From experience, can someone tell me what features of a propriety Unified Communication system is attractive to customers? 2- What are the cost ranges per seat? They mostly lease it??? 3- What does a propriety Unified Communication system offers that the current flavours of Asterisk don't have it available readily? Please note that by Unified I mean the most popular PROPRIETY unified communication systems out there. I really want to know what gaps are these people filling that their solutions becomes attractive in presense of something like Asterisk. Do they just hire good sales men?
