Mark,

There are numerous issues with the technology starting from different accents,
to background noise and to even getting it to work with Asterisk. It's been 2
days that I have been working on the "Zanzibar Open IVR" as suggested on
Asterisk user list out of the many (that were useless or paid) and I haven't
been even able to it to communicate to Asterisk.

They are all based on Java and there is no easy, straight forward way of
installing it onto your Asterisk box. I guess it's just another beast just
almost as big as Asterisk is if you want to work it in rather complex
environment. In fact, some solutions require the help of a linguist and
continuous research and adaption over the years to get to where it's
acceptable.

If you get Zanzibar Open IVR working, I will be really happy to see your guide
on how to make it work. But, that should be a good start for you.

I have got words that it works "perfectly" with basic Yes, No, and digits.

P.S. Don't get discouraged, as the Google Directory (1-800-GOOG-411) is a very
good example of a nicely working Speech Recognition system.
