Greetings:
Many of you know that I had been promoting and recommending Aastra
phones for a while, running on almost 10 years. These phones have
worked very well for us in our hosted models. We have also had an
EXCELLENT working relationship with Aastra and their executives.
Unfortunately our concern for the buggy AASTRA 6737i has not been taken
seriously.
Without exception, 100% of the 6737i phones purchased to date with
firmware older than SP2 Hotfix2 (*V3.2.2.6274, 10/2012*) is a problem
and were bricked after their first boot up in a hosted model. My
personal 6737i has been generously replaced by AASTRA - however all
phones shipped to clients, including two as recently as last week were
bricked after their first boot.
My request to AASTRA is quite simple: Stop shipping the model unless
the firmware is upgraded to SP2 Hotfix2 (*V3.2.2.6274, 10/2012*).
My unit with the SP2 Hotfix2 appears to be perfectly ok.
I don't have a confirmation as of yet whether this is a hardware problem
or a faulty firmware issue. Please be cautioned for this specific
model. All other models, we have not had to RMA. Our original
deployment of AASTRA 9133i are still kicking at clients and they
continue to serve our original base of clients for almost a decade.
Thanks and regards,
Reza.
