Mr. Brandon Kruse

My first Asterisk client has hired my services,
knowing full well, how long I've been out of the game,
and how new Linux and Asterisk are to me.

Previous question, regarding .pdf edition of Asterisk
TFOT, yes 2nd edition. It is there that I read the
author(s) leaning towards CentOS. I am using
linuxcommand.org to get my arms around basic Linux
skills.

For my learning and first few test projects, I need to
make some key decisions regarding Linux distros,
Asterisk versions and GUI vs CLI, knowing full well
that just about everyone has their particular version
and combinations that suits their needs.

I started in 1975, when the CLI seemed high tech
compared to punched cards. I realize that Digium holds
'boot camp' classes, the content of which I feel about
half would be helpful, while the other half I could
learn by readig the manual and doing it(RTFM).

So outside your gracious FREE support, tell me about,
or link me to, Digium support for Asterisk. Once the
key decisions are made I would like to have one
person, maybe you, to goto for help, in the begining.
After that my learning curve will be a steep one.

Reading about AsteriskNow vs Asterisk 1.4.22 I already
got the feeling it might be a good idea to have 2
boxes one running Now the other running CentOS and
1.4.22. I see distributing the app anyway. The Now
box I bought from a gamer for 300 bucks. The other
box I am building from the board up, for about
700bucks bearing in mind what I read in chapter 2.

I would like someone to comment on the specific
choices I have made and why, perhaps there are
conflicts of which I'm not aware, etc.

Your thoughts?
