        Anyways, yes, I think it is possible to use the new firmware with old 
2.6.x bootroms.  On the IP300 and IP500 this is your only option.

        In addition to support HTTPs and FTPs, the new bootrom ensures that the 
image is cryptographically ssigned.  So, the answer is - "nothing useful 
to us". :)

P.S. - The release notes state that you can't go back once you have used 
3.1.  That's just not the case.  You can go back to 3.0, but I haven't 
tried 2.6 because Polycom swears up and down that really, really bad 
things will happen!
