I got astlinux to work (sort-of) and now am trying to use it to replace my SMC barricade router.
[internet]--[cablemodem]--7'--[SMCrouter]--23'--[astlinux]--[16 port switch]--[computer] The coumputer can "see" any part of the internet. All is fine. I try this connection and I must need to make changes to astlinux box because the test computer does not "see" the internet. ifconfig, ipaddr also show problems. [internet]--[cablemodem]--23'--[astlinux]--[16 port switch]--[computer] This configuration fails. I tried commenting out the EXTIF=eth0 and UNcommenting the EXTIF=wp1chdlc and didn't work either. I think the first setup is messing up my reception of SIP calls. I have at least one firewall and maybe two and I suspect that is too much grief for me to solve. Do I need to say I have one or zero firewalls as to astlinux ? Do I need to turn on the NAT access via a firewall ? I turned it on to get past the SMC in first config, and it still did not work. That is why I suspect two firewalls. I have DHCP and dynamic IP addressing in case that affects your answer. I see in rc.conf that there is place for static IP setup and it refers to "default" DHCP area when not static. Is there a setup area for that ? and where might that be? Rich PS 350Mhz PII w/256Mb ram, 32MB CF card. Two NICs, 905B 3COM and other card is 3COM also but some kinda business card. A drive with the word "tulip" in it runs just fine for the first config. _______________________________________________ Astlinux-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.kriscompanies.com/mailman/listinfo/astlinux-users Donations to support AstLinux are graciously accepted via PayPal to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
