Hello everyone,

I have created a very, very basic proof of concept of the kexec-based
boot system that I have been talking about...

- boots AstLinux after booting runnix (more down below)
- AstLinux basically behaves just like the live cd, it runs from RAM for
the time being

This is a Soekris-only image for now. Eventually, I will make a
barebones 386 and up version of runnix (probably some time tomorrow).

runnix is what I have decided to call the new boot loader. I have some
pretty big plans for it!

To install, all you need is a fresh, FAT16 CF card. A new one out of
the package should do. Or, you can use fdisk in linux (hex part type 6)
and mkdosfs -F 16 /path/to/dev to partition your flash card. Simply
untar the archive above into the mount point of your flash card and
boot! It includes a brand new, freshly build AstLinux image that you
can't get anywhere else (unless you build it from SVN yourself).

There is a lot of work to be done, but as I said this is a
proof-of-concept and the usual disclaimers apply.

P.S. - You might have some MBR problems if you have had GRUB, etc
previously on the flash disk. I'll be posting some follow ups on how to
fix that after I get some sleep :)!
