Funny you should ask about this. I've just picked up a consultancy job where we are going to use SIPp (sipp.sourceforge.net) to load test a bunch of servers in the UK.
I've set up a rig on my bench consisting of a debian "etch" box running on a 3GHz machine (don't want the generator lacking in horses!!) and my spare Net4801 running Astlinux 0.4.2. Once I have the scenarios down I'll transfer the software over to the production servers. In doing this test (I'm at the beginning of day 2 today) I've discovered that the Net4801 can handle a max of 20 consecutive calls a minute. After which it starts to drop packets and misses console updates etc. Next test is to see how many concurrent calls it can handle. When I've completed the testing/learning I was thinking about doing the same against my new Gumstix machine.
