You could do this with OpenVPN.  Have one box act as the "server" and 
configure the other as a client.  Make sure the server box is up and 
accessible first, then connect the server.  Details on the config files 
can be found at http://www.openvpn.net

If you have specific questions when you get started, I'd be happy to 
help, but at this point I don't have the spare time to write a howto.
