dummy me ... I saw references to "DBdel" and assumed
that this would DELETE an entry from the database ...
I understand that callerid is now called and set using the
format "Set(ACCOUNTCODE=${CALLERID(number)})" and "Set(ACCOUNTNAME=${CALLERID(name)})" ... that one I did catch on to and
have edited my configs to use the new format ... but I missed any reference to
changes in DBput/DBget and the deprecation of the "SetVar" command ... I
will have to crack the books and try to figure out the new style ...
thanks for the link ... am sure I would have stumbled on it eventually when my
stuff starts not working ...
I noted the "fall through" thingy in Asterisk starting with
v1.2 and of course disabled that one as it killed a lot of my favorite routines
... and I will admit to having taken a real hard look at re-writting my canned
routines in AEL(2) ... but to be honest, I am generally lazy and as long as I
can make the old stuff work, I probably will ... this old dog can only learn new
tricks so fast ... I do tend to fall into patterns that work and only change
workable routines when I absolutly have to ... I suspect a lot of folks are
guilty of same ...
Has anyone setup a complete workable AEL(2) based
extensions.conf that includes implementation of common features ??? I
have tried it, but have not gotten very far in the limited time I have avaialble
to put into such things ... if someone has done this and would be willing
to share theirs as an example I would sure appreciate it ... maybe off
list as I am not sure this is the appropriate venue ...

In the world of TrixBox, the art of clean, efficient extensions.conf coding
is essential for AstLinux solutions.
With that in mind, I noticed that a lot of the submissions use "deprecated"
applications and globals as of Asterisk 1.2.X.
In particular, DBput, DBget, ${CALLERIDNUM}, and priority jumping.
I know it is a pain to change good working code (especially replacing
DBget) but it is a good thing for the next snow day.
