This is generally a pretty tame group, not given to flames. Generally, people will try to distinguish whether or not your question is astlinix specific or if it's simply an asterisk question better suited towards the asterisk-users mail list which can be found in the support area at the asterisk.org site.
I don't have an answer about the UK caller ID. Can I assume you've been over to asterisk-info.org to look it up in the wiki? In my opinion, this becomes an astlinux issue the moment you find you have to compile something which is not in the base image. If it's simply a config issue, then the wiki or the users list will probably be more productive.
I hope that helps.
Hi,
I am sure you have seen this question before and I am also sure I have fallen into the trap that a lot of newbies do – so I am sorry to bother you all out there, but…
I am having great fun with AstLinux, this being my first venture into anything like this, and all is well apart from I have purchased a X100P card from ebay to play with PSTN interfacing (I can hear the groans). I have managed to get the configuration working and created a channel and can make one of my extensions ring on an incoming call, but I cannot get Caller ID to work. Apparently here in the UK the callerid info is sent before the first ringing tone is generated.
I now see there is lots of discussion about this very issue, a patch has been created to store this info in a history buffer, but no definitive answer. So do I need to find, compile & apply some patches (which I have no idea how to do) or have these patches made their way into the latest version of AstLinux?
Please don't shout at me too much for bothering you with what is probably a tedious question.
Thanks
Pete
