Phil, I'm using Astlinux in router mode and my personal experience is that my data connections are far slower when I use the prioritization.
I did my testing with the speed tests available at DSL reports dot com. I used the advice in rc.conf and set ASTUP and ASTDOWN to about 90% of the values I saw over three separate tests, which averaged about 335 up and 10,100 on my comcast cable connection. So, I set them to 300 and 9100. Tests afterwards indicated I can get about 253 up and 1750 down. My wife isn't complaining about speed, but I can definitely see the impact when downloading ISOs and other large files. I've mentioned this on the list before, but I think Kristian was too busy with a new release and presenting out of town. If anybody can tell me that I'm using the tool incorrectly, I'd sure like to know about it.
