Thanks Zviad,
I found the pci slot mounted device appealing because it's a ready
made part that can be put into any kind of system box that has an
available spare slot.

I'm expecting this old Dell box to pitch a fit and die someday and I
want to be ready to simply move my CF card and memory stick to the
next system.
