Hi guys,

I have problem with interconnection of peers with different codecs. I
could not find answers on the net. Let me ask for your help here:

I run AstLinux 0.4.5

I have SIP phone (Nokia E90) it's sip peer is configured to have g729a
codec;
I have one X100P compatible card, that connects to my analog line
and I have SIP peer, that connects to SIP provider.

I have purchased two licenses for g729a codec.

I discovered, that, when a peer for SIP phone has codec set to g729a,
when calling to analog line, asterisk says: "ast_request: No translator
path exists for channel type Zap (native 68) to 256"
What I read on forums, is that Zap is using ulaw, means asterisk cannot
tranlate from g729 to ulaw.

I could use my SIP provider peer, as it was set to g729 also, as I
changed it to ulaw, I had the same translation problem.

show translation shows this:

g723 gsm ulaw alaw g726 adpcm slin lpc10 g729 speex ilbc
   g723 - - - - - - - - - - -
    gsm - - 2 2 2 2 1 6 - - 16
   ulaw - 4 - 1 2 2 1 6 - - 16
   alaw - 4 1 - 2 2 1 6 - - 16
   g726 - 4 2 2 - 2 1 6 - - 16
  adpcm - 4 2 2 2 - 1 6 - - 16
   slin - 3 1 1 1 1 - 5 - - 15
  lpc10 - 5 3 3 3 3 2 - - - 17
   g729 - - - - - - - - - - -
  speex - - - - - - - - - - -
   ilbc - 6 4 4 4 4 3 8 - - -

I was explaied, when you have dashes at g729, it means I have no g729
codec working.

How can I check whether it is working or not?

I tried to change SIP phone to ilbc, Zap works.
provider's peer with ulaw, either ilbc, either g729, does not gets
through, when calling from sip phone with ilbc, or even ulaw, I am
getting 488 from provider's asterisk.

Any ideas?
