Chris, While other people have responded on your timezone query, I'd like to talk about your issues with ntp. AstLinux currently uses OpenNTPD. OpenNTPD does not include ntpq to query the status of the running ntp daemon. I have been re-investigating the merits of the "standard" NTP daemon (udel) vs. OpenNTPD. We might see udel back in AstLinux soon enough.
