OK I deleted the partition, reboot DSL, and followed your instruction.
This works somewhat better, but the same three errors appear. The boot 
menu comes up, but there appear to be errors in the flash.
I am now wondering if the flash has a problem, though the curious thing 
is I can install DSL to the SAME flash with no apparent problems.

I have some other thin clients coming, and one available with more 
memory and a larger flash, so I may try the same on those to either 
determine the problem or confuse me even more!

Thanks again for AstLinux - I have another machine up and running with 
it and it works very well.
