Another option could be an E1/T1 gateway device such a dialogic media gateway or others. They are generally more expensive, but can also be used in all sorts of applications. They come in multiple flavours one/two/four span E1/T1, QSIG/ETSI, TCP/UDP/TLS and also support multiple codec's G729, 711a and u etc(Gateway venders are even starting to support Microsoft's Real Time Voice codec) Guy
