Kris created the runnix concept.  It's been around for well over a year 
now and has worked well.  I'm sure we'll continue to improve that.  I 
think there are some ways we could update it to boot a little faster.  I 
improved the unionfs implementation.  So far it seems to work well. 
It's not as tested in Astlinux as runnix is, but since you really have 
no way of changing the root password without unionfs, the two pretty 
much should go together.

Understood.  It's much easier for someone who is not a developer to 
write documentation that can be understood.  Of course we would edit as 
necessary.  If Kris doesn't see this, I'll drop him a note and ask him 
to create a user for you with limited access.

I'd go for a minimum of 512mb.  128MB for the runnix partition, 128mb 
for unionfs, and the balance for the key disk.
