Using a sip proxy allows for extra redundancy. Since we supply the trunking facilities via the WAN, we have the ability to re-route calls directly to the branch offices in the event of a WAN failure at the main location. The other way, a WAN failure at he the main location renders both the main and remote branch locations down.
