Thanks George, Could it be your browser's cache is remembering the previous index.html file? Doesn't seem likely, but a hunch.
In your case, https://astlinux/index.php should redirect to the status.php. Also, if you don't use http, you can configure the base of that at / mnt/kd/altweb/http and that will redirect you to https://astlinux/ status.php.
