Hi, I am new to this list. After much research (google-ing, if you can call
that research). I have started to look at setting up AstLinux as a gateway
at my home. Today I have trixbox running on a system behind a Linksys
router. But I want to replace both with a single box that will serve as an
internet gateway and a Asterisk appliance. It looks like AstLinux on an ALIX
2c3 or 2c2 is the ideal setup (for me). But, a few questions...

Am I on the right path? Is this viable?

Does AstLinux support IVR's, Queues, Voicemail-to-email, Call Detail
Reports, etc?

A quick kicking of the tires (0.5 image in VMWare) and I can't find anything
equivalent to the trixbox GUI (freePBX). Is there an equivalent or will I
have to learn the syntax of asterisk config files (yuk... can model the
entries based on what my trixbox/asterisk config files look like for my
extensions, VoIP providers, etc?)

How exactly do I turn on the gateway/routing feature? Is there a GUI for
its setup (port forwarding, register to dyndns.org, etc).

I managed to checkout and build AstLinux today (on Ubuntu 7.10... in a
VMWare workstation). I see a 'iso' directory, do I just have to burn that
onto a CD?

I hope to prototype everything inside VMWare to get started... once I'm
satisfied that it will work for me I'll go buy the ALIX. Is there an easy
way to create a VMWare image, or do I just make the ISO and "boot" from
that.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

David.
