I've only been skimming the latest discussion so maybe this suggestion is
off-base....  The asterisk-gui includes a decent File Editor in Advanced
mode (Options-->Advanced, then File Editor appears as a tab with the rest to
the left).  I use it on an AA50 from time to time.
