Hi All,

Nice install, up and running in a couple of minutes. The initial boot
screen on the CD image launches in 4-5 seconds, not enough time to read the
boot options on top. I felt like I missed something and did a ctl-alt-del
to see what they were. Maybe launch after 30 seconds and put a notice
"Startup will launch in 30 seconds". Example: "Knoppix".

After astinstall completed, I could not eject the CD, had to get it out of
the PC during POST. Not sure if it was my old PC or if you have a CD FS
Lock embedded that needs to be released to eject? Maybe do auto eject after
install script successfully completes.

I have to go back through the runnix docs and see how to configure the ver
file to select different OS images, would be nice to see a grub like menu to
select OS image during boot up.

Once running, after install to /dev/hda1, things just seem to work as usual,
no surprises, genkd worked, although I did not use the /dev/hda1 partition,
I used the /dev/hda2. I was wondering about the formatting of the kd, if I
had selected /dev/hda1, would that have formatted that partition or just
created a new folder /kd on /dev/hda1 and mounted to /mnt/kd?

Refresh my memory, this new runnix/astlinux distro runs the root fs in a RAM
drive, correct? If that is the case, a memcheck utility could be added on
the install CD/ISO image with a boot time option to perform a RAM check on
the hardware. If someone has bad RAM, an initial RAM check could eliminate
support calls in the future, just a thought.

Thanks for the work you guys are doing with AstLinux. Glad to hear it will
be in the cookbook.

JR
