Look at the first 5 lines of target/initrd/target_skeleton/linuxrc, 
especially:

PARTS="hda1 hdb1 hdc1 hdd1 hde1 hdf1 hdg1 sda1 sdb1 sdc1 sdd1"
DRIVES="hda hdb hdc hdd hde hdf hdg sda sdb sdc sdd"

Also, I think the following modules need to be loaded by default:

ata_generic
sg
libata
sd_mod
scsi_mod
jbd

and:

sata_XXXX for the ICH9R controller.
