The Number format uses regular expressions (ereg) to do a sanity check
on the number. You can essentially turn this off by putting "^.*" in
this entry, but some sanity check is good.

The "Number Format:" specification is very flexible, using the
standard UNIX regular expression syntax.
Another example, allow any number 0-9 with at least 6 digits and at most
16 digits.
^[0-9]{6,16}$
