I was not aware that it was possible to make the root password sticky using genkd, perhaps I missed something. I understood this needed genunion. Genunion on a USB-stick was a non starter for me - the USB-stick could not be detected at boot-up. Possibly a timing issue. Even if it were possible to host all config on a physically separate device, if the pbx is logging lots of calls and is expected it to be industrial strength then the storage of this on flash is probably its Achilles heel, and could significantly affect the maintenance costs.
