Thanks Darick I finally got the TDM400P card working by manually creating the dahdi configuration files. It is probably best to remove the scripts that have perl dependancies as they are only wasting space on the image and as my example shows serving to cause concern that there is a problem somewhere. I came to the conclusion last night that the Asterisk GUI causes more problems than it solves and resorted to manually editing the configuration files to get some basic functionality working, once I finally grasped that there needed to be two contexts one for the incoming lines with an s catch all and another for the sip phones to dial out instead of having them all-in-one it all started to fall into place. I think my main problem with Asterisk is that there seems to be little (or difficult to find) in the way of up-to-date comprehensive documentation, google throws up loads of snippets of information on various blogs and wikis much of which is now out of date and so it quickly becomes confusing. For me the big problem was getting started, I spent hours and hours trying to grasp the basics, putting so much effort in and getting more and more frustrated to the point I gave up in the past. But then once I finally got it then it was fairly straight forward from there, in fact it was far easier to use the files than the GUI, now I know why you hide it.
