So here the update. I set the encryption to WPA, and still no luck. The
message is that the password is wrong, but I know I'm putting it in
correctly since I'm looking at it on the screen of one computer, and
entering it in the other.

It seems that it is using 802.11b... not sure how to select "g"
If I remove the password, and do not add "wpa" or "wep", but leave the
encryption space blank then hostapd does not start.
If I kill the process/deamon, and restart it manually with: hostapd -dddd
-K -t /tmp/etc/hostapd.conf
Then this is the output.
