Hi Darius 1. Make sure your card reader is NOT connected to your PC
2. Run physdiskwrite.exe astlinux-0.7-whatever.img 3. You will see output relating to the drives in your machine, with headings like this: "Information for \\.\PhysicalDrive0:", "Information for \\.\PhysicalDrive1:" 4. Note down all those final digits in the headings (0 and 1 in the example above) 5. Put your card in 6. Repeat the physdiskwrite command again 7. This time, there will be an extra \\.\PhysicalDriveN: listed. That is your card, so when you are asked which drive to write to, put that number (N) in Again, obviously WARNING: get this right, or you can overwrite your system disk. Hope this is clear Tom > -----Original Message----- > From: Darius Jack [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: 14 July 2010 21:15 > To: AstLinux Users Mailing List; [email protected] > Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] V0.7.2 ISO image won't "install" > > Hi Mark, > > so no chance to install Astlinux at all ? > > I tried to copy image to USB drive, using physdiskwrite and > can't make image to be transferred. > > Using DOS CLI I don't know what deviceno to select (have 1 > hard disk = 2 partitions + USB 4 GB stick). > > Using physGUI as admin (Vista) transfer starts, closes and > nothing transferred. > > USB 4 GB is FAT 32 (should I select other FS ? > > Using DOS CLI, how can I enter the right deviceno if no > discovery mode is provided ? > > Any idea ? > > Darius > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > > From: Mark Phillips <[email protected]> > > To: [email protected]; AstLinux Users Mailing List > ><[email protected]> > > Sent: Wed, 14 July, 2010 21:41:19 > > Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] V0.7.2 ISO image won't "install" > > > > Well, > > > > I think I did find out why it doesn't work.
