OK, I thought it might be that. I just decided this time not to buy a Sandisk from Soekris, as they are so expensive. I therefore bought a couple of Fuji CFs at a local photography shop which were half the price (£20), and I guess that's the problem. Just found a UK eBayer with new Sandisks nearly half the price of the Fujis, though (£13 for 4GB rather than €39 for 2GB from Soekris), so that might be the solution.
