AstLinux only supports apcupsd for APC UPS's.

Yes, usb is supported by setting advanced variables:
--
UPSTYPE="usb"
UPSCABLE="usb"
--

I don't use this feature on any of my systems, but it looks like first the 
default files in the /stat/etc/apcupsd/ directory (don't edit) will be copied 
to /etc/apcupsd/ for configuration, followed by any custom files in the 
"/mnt/kd/apcupsd/ directory (do edit).  The file "/etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf" is 
auto-generated.
