Anyone out there capable of compiling the g.729 codec using the Intel IPP
libraries against asterisk 1.8 and uClibc?

http://asterisk.hosting.lv/

That there is no g.729 codec available for asterisk 1.8 on astlinux is really
keeping me on asterisk 1.4 -- but I would really like to move forward and get
on 1.8

It seems a waste to have to dedicate an entire astlinux/asterisk 1.4 box as a
transcoder ....

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
