I wanted to report back on my trial with the USB drive--it works! I did have to
edit the .run.conf. file as you suggested, but once that was done it booted
quickly and cleanly. Clearly I have something screwy with my CF reader/card
combination. I must have been very lucky to get the one combination that does
work! I do have an Emphase CF card coming (as per Darrick's recommendation) and
will test that in addition to another CF card adaptor.
I did want to report a possible bug: I assume you have included Avahi-daeomon
or similar service for service advertisement. Using Safari or other
Bonjour-enabled browser, the URL being advertised is http://pbx.local./ rather
than https://pbx.local./.
