+1 to what Michael Keuter posted...

All the AstLinux developers here have AstLinux boxes in the field with 
customers (of one form or another).

You provide the Asterisk dialplan and sip.conf and you have a custom Asterisk / 
Firewall / Router / VPN solution.

Your Alix board is still a great solution, but for more power (Router / VPN) 
the Intel Atom boards are a great fit for AstLinux.

Possibly a custom AstLinux solution together with an annual service contract 
for upgrades, customizations, etc. is a viable business model.
