did you do a yum install automake?
I know centos 6.4 has a newer version of autoconf and automake.

I have run into problems with Crosstools as well. I do not know if it is the
same problem as you have but in my case I found a mismatch between the version
of crosstools used by AstLinux and the version of linux that I was building on
(I use Ubuntu). I can build using Ubuntu 12.04, but I cannot upgrade to 12.10
or 13.04 because Crosstools would need to be updated to a newer version as
well... which AstLinux has not done yet.
