Recent versions of AstLinux (1.1.2+) ifplugd is used to monitor the link state of the external EXTIF and EXT2IF when configured to use DHCP-cleint and retry DHCP on a state "up" change. So in theory, connecting the EXT2IF with EXT2IP="" will pull a lease from upstream and set the default route. Since AstLinux's EXTIF previously had a public IP address, Asterisk SIP is running without NAT to the public, so adding a NAT to EXT2IF would probably cause issues on the switchover. If like you suggested your 4G/LTE "router" could serve DHCP for it's "public" IP address as a bridge that would be perfect. Another trick is on your 4G/LTE "router", configure a fixed private address assigned via DHCP to AstLinux and set it as a "DMZ" IP address so it won't be NAT'ed. Though, unfortunately here in the US, many LTE providers are using NAT as a part of their infrastructure for IPv4, but fortunately are also offering IPv6. Please share your results.
