Thank you Lonnie for your reply I want to use asterisk just for ss7 signalling processing without media pass from Asterisk. The signal processing is simple check A_number/B_number with a database if matched add some prefix to B_number in SS7 message. Important point: CIC channels do not come to Asterisk they go directly from origin to destination, Asterisk sits serially in signalling path and simulates signaling point codes , and terminate and originates ss7 messages "WITH SAME CIC".in this case Asterisk may can change behavior of large 50k local exchange with just processing of 16 ss7 links. (I need to cheat Asterisk for inbound and outbound DAHDI channels/CICs for generating ss7 messages(local exchange may have 6000 trunks.... I am thinking about loopback TDMoE channels) So no problem to use modern hardware but stability and efficiency ,rapid boot, and embedded/rigid solution is advantage. Regards
