the migration from 1.8 to 11 proves to be quite easy, and from what ive found
asterisk 11 when trimmed down to just the modules you need runs as efficiently
if not more efficiently than 1.8..
of course 11's days are numbered from digium's point of view, however for those
concerned about having to update from 1.8, its easy to go to 11..  and i have
some pretty complex dialplan logic and external programs(AMI gateway stuff) in
my asterisk installs. all of my production installs from the last year are on
11 and they dont crash..  in fact I dont think ive had to reboot a single one
of my 11 boxes because asterisk nuked or deadlocked..  even my highest traffic
server which has run close to 1 million calls now in 7 months has not been
rebooted..
my cloud services are running on asterisk 13 with chan_sip  (I know everyone
says to not do that)..  it is also reliable thus far.. though I dont have a ton
of traffic on that portion yet..

I object!  On the basis that .... I ... erm ..... like causing trouble :)
Keep up the good work Lonnie.  Whilst I'm now professionally quite far removed
from Asterisk I've been keeping an eye on the goings on here.
If I can get in the way, please don't hesitate to call upon me.

Greetings,

Officially Asterisk 1.8 was EOL as of 2015-10-21

Therefore we propose the next AstLinux 1.2.8 release will be the last version
containing Asterisk 1.8 .

If there are any objections, please discuss here.
