In newer Asterisk versions (11+) there is a minimum setting in "asterisk.conf" 
(but no maximum).

;mindtmfduration = 80           ; Set minimum DTMF duration in ms (default 80 
ms)

That depends on the clients, Asterisk can both.
Maybe you can change the duration on the clients. 300ms is quite long.
