Though slightly off topic, as many on the list don't use the HP Thin Clients
due to a singe NIC:
I have had some of the older HP 55xx series fail after more than 10 years in
service. ( And they were used when first put into service with AstLinux! )
Seems the quite familiar "dome top electrolytic" failure found in many desktop
motherboards shows up in the TC as well.
Just had to replace one using astlinux .5 with Asterisk 1.2!
So far no long term failures with the 57xx series though.
No failures with the Flash yet. I used to use a CF card in an adapter, as these
have a 44 pin IDE male connector on the MB, but long since moved to a larger
flash that is a direct replacement.

we havent yet lost any APU or APU2 boards and have 100s out in the field, some
in pretty crappy environments..  all are PC-engines mini cases mounted to UTR-1
vented rack-shelves for additional passive cooling

our Soekris NET5501 boxes are slowly losing their CF cards after 7-8 years in
the field now..  boards are still just fine..

We have had multiple reports that after 3-5 years of use, this appliance fails.

Presumably heat related.

If you have this appliance in production, consider replacing it.
