Yes it was the fact that I needed separate networks for the Primary and Backup 
peers so adding both of these to the same interface should solve this problem.
Sorry guys but could I please have a little help with doing this.

  A single wg interface can have multiple IP addresses.  They can be different 
subnets too. You will have to manually edit the config files.
