Have you tried in an LXC container on a different host (non-AstLinux)? Just to narrow down if the problem is AstLinux or something else.
Does Pi-hole 6 require a specific kernel version? One of the "features" of containers like LXC is that they build upon the kernel of the host. AstLinux is on a 5.x kernel, so if Pi-hole needs something from a newer kernel then it might not work. David.
