Sejak kemarin saya menerima banyak pesan seperti ini melalui IM:
Jika anda sedang terancam jiwanya karena dirampok/ditodong seseorang
untuk mengeluarkan uang dari atm ,maka anda bisa minta pertolongan
diam2 dengan memberikan nomor pin secara terbalik ,misal no asli pin
anda 1254 input 4521 di atm maka mesin akan mengeluarkan uang anda
juga tanda bahaya Ke kantor polisi tanpa diketahui pencuri
tsb.Fasilitas ini tersedia di seluruh atm tapi hanya sedikit orang
yang tahu tolong kasih tahu kepada yang lain.
Seperti yang bisa kita tebak, ini adalah /hoax/.
/Hoax/ ini mungkin berasal dari peraturan daerah negara bagian Illinois,

Dan yang terakhir adalah peraturan daerah negara bagian Kansas SB 333

diberlakukan:
Any automated teller machine operated in this state shall be
designed and programmed so that when a consumer enters such
consumer's personal identification number in reverse order, the
automated teller machine automatically sends an alarm to the local
law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the automated teller
machine location.
Intinya, ada undang-undang yang mendefinisikan sistem semacam ini,
tetapi tidak mengharuskan atau undang-undangnya sendiri tidak atau belum
berlaku. Sepanjang pengetahuan saya, belum ada ATM yang
mengimplementasikan sistem seperti ini.
Yang jelas, saya sudah mencoba ini di ATM Bank Mandiri dan BCA. ATM yang
saya coba hanya memprotes bahwa PIN saya salah dan yang jelas tidak ada
polisi yang mendatangi saya.
