I have another issue with IBSS mode with current wireless-2.6, I guess that your patch doesn't address that problem. I believe its rooted in mac80211 anyway. When I start IBSS mode with a fixed BSSID like so iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc essid ath5k freq 2.437G ap 01:22:33:44:55:66 mac80211 will not call create ibss or join ibss for it. Therefore, if I start a bunch of nodes with this configuration, nobody will start sending beacons and after waiting some time they will all create a new IBSS network. This of course defeats the purpose of giving them all the same BSSID. They will eventually come together at some point under someone's BSSID. I guess that mac80211 would have to call create ibss if iwconfig is called with the "ap" argument?
