Hi, thanks for the replies but it is not working. I am using now hostapd (net-wireless/hostapd-0.6.9)
My hostapd config is the following: interface=wlan0 driver=nl80211 When I start hostapd the following message is being displayed: * Caching service dependencies ... * Can't find service 'net.ath0' needed by 'hostapd'; continuing... [ ok ] net.ath0 * ERROR: Some services needed are missing. Run * './hostapd broken' for a list of those * services. hostapd was not started. But I have no net.ath0. My wireless device is: wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:"" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 Should I create a symbolic links to net.lo that is named net.wlan0? Is it possible to enable master mode with the ath5k drivers in the kernel? How can I enable it? Is it possible with iw or iwconfig? Does someone use the ath5k in master mode? And with a hostapd config? Any help would be appreciated.
