If the clock is a pyramid clock (triangular in shape) it has a slide lever in
the battery door on the bottom of the clock.

Someone gave me one because he doesn't like it; it was talking, but it
suddenly stopped; it was in my purse and made a raspberry-like sound not long
before it stopped talking.
If you think it needs a battery, where is the battery compartment located?
I don't seem to feel a place to lift it with my fingers; it is one of the first
ones, I think.
