Required Skills:
An in-depth knowledge of accessibility requirements across different types of disabilities, including Section 508 (and its proposed refresh), WCAG 2.0, ATAG, UAAG, and WAI-ARIA A thorough understanding of how these requirements support different disabilities on the web Experience working with users with disabilities to assess product compliance Familiarity with web technologies including HTML5, ARIA, and jQuery, including how to leverage these to provide accessible design Knowledge of methodologies like progressive enhancement, universal design, and inclusive web development Experience at least one of the following automated and manual testing software tools: WAVE, Firefox FireEyes plug-in, AMP, Worldspace Ability to perform software/application testing of electronic information with automated testing tools and assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and speech recognition software Ability to analyze, solve, and communicate complex and difficult problems related to accessibility Experience working in a team, collaborating with UI designers, Product Managers, and developers to resolve issues and recommend solutions Ability to act as an accessibility resource and evangelize accessibility guidelines, standards, and techniques
Preferred skills:
Knowledge or skill in building accessible solutions using the following web technologies: ASP.NET, Flash, Flex, PDF, AIR, Java An understanding of the overall legislative landscape including state and national accessibility laws Experience working with agile and waterfall methodologies in a fast paced environment Skill in researching industry best practices and benchmark information Experience using bug tracking software to manage remediation process
