There is an app called Vlingo out there, but it's certainly no Serie. It
will let you dictate texts and E-mails, and do very basic voice based web
searches, but you can't search Wulfrem Alpha's knowledge base, have it do
math problems, set reminders and control your calendar, set timers, or do
many of the things Serie does like voice entry of addresses into GPS apps.
The app store shows no entries for Vingo, so think the Apple rep got it
wrong and was referring to Vlingo. Vlingo is nominally accessible, but it
doesn't really read everything back verbally like Serie does. Two other
voice apps are called Voice Action for around $6.00 and Vocall for around
$4.00. Both have their issues. There are podcasts where you can hear
demonstrations at applevis.com. My suggestion, learn to use the on screen
keyboard. It's not that hard. And get an external bluetooth keyboard, and
a notes app that will upload automatically to dropbox.

Subject: Re: [ATI] Vingo and WordPress
For managing a blog, Wordpress is great. Creating is more problematic and
you
will need sighted assistance if you care about the look-and-feel aspects of
the blog.

Greetings:
I am finally hurtling into the 21st century and thinking of purchasing an
iPad. Apparently, the most recent version scheduled to be released in ten
days or so does not have SIRI, but an Apple representative suggested that
I purchase a personal assistance app called Vingo which is supposed to do
many - or perhaps more - stuff than Siri. Has anyone used this app, and
if so, how well does it work?
Also, how accessible is WordPress for creating and managing a blog?
Many thanks, Peter
